outings and Activities

Recent activities

Once a month an outing of some kind is arranged by

our very active Tours and Outings Team.

The outings are either half day visits or full day tours

or bus trips, and are varied in nature to cover as many

interests as possible. Our outings are held on different

days of the week so as not to exclude members who

have commitments on particular days of the week.

Some trips we have enjoyed recently include a guided

walking tour of New Farm, Queensland Brain Institute

at the University of Queensland, the Port of Brisbane,

a heritage tour of Ipswich, a trip to the Redcliffe

Peninsula, QIMR Berghofer Medical Research

Institute, the Museum of Brisbane, a boat trip to the

Gold Coast, the Beenleigh Rum Distillery and the

Scenic Rim.

From time to time there is the opportunity to participate in                                                                                     longer trips. Members have enjoyed long weekends at                                                                                           Stanthorpe, and at Warwick for the Jumpers and Jazz                                                                                           festival. Week long trips to Norfolk Island and to the                                                                                              Longreach area, and recent four day trips to Lightning

Ridge and Yamba/Dorrigo were a great success.

SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS

We have a number of special interest groups which meet regularly.

Our monthly meetings are followed by lunch at a nearby cafe or restaurant, and we always have a festive Christmas lunch in December. In addition, our regular

outings generally include morning tea or lunch at a suitable time during the outing.

The Photography Club meets regularly. This is a

shared activity with other Probus clubs in the

western suburbs. Annual photographic competitions

are held.

The Mahjong Group meets monthly to hone their skills and to enjoy some relaxation with friends. Beginner players are very welcome.

We have some keen bush walkers who tackle a different track every month,

always finishing with a coffee and chat. Or if you prefer a more gentle walk in air conditioned comfort the Coffee and Chat group is for you. You can even meet up just for coffee if you don't feel like walking that day!

Regular Golf Days are organised with players competing for our coveted Perpetual Trophy. Or if you're not a golfer but like a bit of fun, join the enthusiastic group of mini golfers who tackle the mini golf course with gusto, if not with any actual skill!

A number of theatre events are organised throughout

the year to see musicals, plays or special events. In

addition there are always "Pop Ups" available, which

are events, shows, performances, movies etc that

members advertise.

A well-stocked Book Exchange provides a variety of books and jigsaw puzzles for the enjoyment of members.

Members with an interest in a particular field are welcome to form new interest groups. Assistance is given in the organisation of new groups.
